KYMBA Louisville Quarterly Update

Hey everyone, Fall is here šŸ‚ and it’s shaping up to be a busy season for trails, new projects, and community events. Here’s the latest on what’s happening in and around Louisville:

🌲 Trail System Updates:

Turkey Run Park: We’re working to regain access for trail work. If you’d like to be a trail steward or help maintain this system, email or message us to be added to the list.

Cherokee Park: We’ll be reaching out to Olmsted Parks to discuss a possible Phase 3 build and updated signage.

Seneca Park: Plans are underway for progressive features, including multiple drops. Volunteers will be needed once approved. Contact Brian Sandman if you’d like to help or donate.

Waverly Park: A dig day is planned for Nov. 15, 2–5 PM (pending confirmation). Details will be posted on Facebook. This will kick off regular dig days—likely light this winter ā„ļø, but more in spring 🌱.

Briar Hill: We’ve had questions about this system but aren’t sure who is managing it. If you’re involved or want to help, let us know and we’ll connect you.

Fort Duffield: Innovative Dirt Solutions begins work around Oct. 1. Current scope includes:

Improving jump line flow šŸš€ Fixing drainage on Slalom Building a fresh NEW downhill trail above Slalom We’re still looking for affordable housing options while the crew is in town.

Saunders Springs: They’ll continue with races and events while working toward a new blue flow trail—about 200 ft of vert and 1 mile of descent. Volunteers and donations are needed. Reach out to Vince or Eric to help.

Otter Creek: This is a huge opportunity if the community supports it. If you haven’t been, fall is the perfect time šŸ to explore the views and terrain. Lincoln Trails secured an IMBA Trail Accelerator Grant and will meet with IMBA this week.

🚧 Future Bike Parks & Trail Systems: Jefferson Memorial Forest (JMF) They’re open to trails in the Mormon Hills—an area five times larger than Waverly. This could be Louisville’s crown jewel šŸ’Ž. The community survey is critical—please fill it out and share widely. Click here for JMF survey.

Highland Park Bike: Park Funding is in place to start and finish several phases, but more is needed to complete everything at once. Contact Bike Highland Park on Facebook to volunteer or donate šŸ’µ.

New Albany Riverfront Bike Park & Camping Area: The city is moving forward with scoping, permits, and builder qualifications. Plans include a jump line/pump track and up to 10 miles of trails.

Origin Park: KYMBA Louisville and others recently met with Origin Park. While MTB trails aren’t currently in their budget, they’re open to the idea. With $270M going into the park šŸ’°, even a small investment in MTB could have a big impact. Join us on Oct. 2 for a ride through the park with Dave Bell—details on Origin Park’s page.
