KYMBA Louisville Quarterly Update
Hey everyone, Fall is here š and itās shaping up to be a busy season for trails, new projects, and community events. Hereās the latest on whatās happening in and around Louisville:
š² Trail System Updates:
Turkey Run Park: Weāre working to regain access for trail work. If youād like to be a trail steward or help maintain this system, email or message us to be added to the list.
Cherokee Park: Weāll be reaching out to Olmsted Parks to discuss a possible Phase 3 build and updated signage.
Seneca Park: Plans are underway for progressive features, including multiple drops. Volunteers will be needed once approved. Contact Brian Sandman if youād like to help or donate.
Waverly Park: A dig day is planned for Nov. 15, 2ā5 PM (pending confirmation). Details will be posted on Facebook. This will kick off regular dig daysālikely light this winter āļø, but more in spring š±.
Briar Hill: Weāve had questions about this system but arenāt sure who is managing it. If youāre involved or want to help, let us know and weāll connect you.
Fort Duffield: Innovative Dirt Solutions begins work around Oct. 1. Current scope includes:
Improving jump line flow š Fixing drainage on Slalom Building a fresh NEW downhill trail above Slalom Weāre still looking for affordable housing options while the crew is in town.
Saunders Springs: Theyāll continue with races and events while working toward a new blue flow trailāabout 200 ft of vert and 1 mile of descent. Volunteers and donations are needed. Reach out to Vince or Eric to help.
Otter Creek: This is a huge opportunity if the community supports it. If you havenāt been, fall is the perfect time š to explore the views and terrain. Lincoln Trails secured an IMBA Trail Accelerator Grant and will meet with IMBA this week.
š§ Future Bike Parks & Trail Systems: Jefferson Memorial Forest (JMF) Theyāre open to trails in the Mormon Hillsāan area five times larger than Waverly. This could be Louisvilleās crown jewel š. The community survey is criticalāplease fill it out and share widely. Click here for JMF survey.
Highland Park Bike: Park Funding is in place to start and finish several phases, but more is needed to complete everything at once. Contact Bike Highland Park on Facebook to volunteer or donate šµ.
New Albany Riverfront Bike Park & Camping Area: The city is moving forward with scoping, permits, and builder qualifications. Plans include a jump line/pump track and up to 10 miles of trails.
Origin Park: KYMBA Louisville and others recently met with Origin Park. While MTB trails arenāt currently in their budget, theyāre open to the idea. With $270M going into the park š°, even a small investment in MTB could have a big impact. Join us on Oct. 2 for a ride through the park with Dave Bellādetails on Origin Parkās page.

OāBannon Woods Adventure Ride: Nov 7-9, 2025, Corydon, IN A weekend mountain bike festival at OāBannon Woods. Trails, good times, and a great way to close out the season. š Check the event website for details.
BGMC #8 ā Sugarcamp Race: Oct 17-19, 2025, Prestonsburg, KY The final stop in the Bluegrass Mountain Cup series š. XC racing, enduro stages, camping, and more. š Visit the Bluegrass Mountain Cup site for info.
Brown County Epic Festival: Sep 26-28, 2025, Brown County State Park, Southern IN A non-competitive ride & music fest: multiple route options (ā26, 44, 72 mi), camping, food, vendor/demo expo, SAG (ride support), and live music. š Come ride the autumn singletrack! š
Hassmer Fest 2025: Sep 26-28, 2025, Versailles State Park, IN Three days of MTB fun with organized rides, clinics for all skill levels, camping, group rides, live music, and more. Proceeds support SIMBA and the trails (ā30 miles of flowing singletrack). Register early for perks!
KICL Race Series: Kentucky Interscholastic Cycling League Supporting youth mountain biking across Kentucky! Volunteers and cheerleaders are always needed. š More Info Here
